Yep, our love affair with the lovely Mac Pro continues. Great article from cnet, which means you could soon be giving Dreamworks and Pixar a run for their money… Have a read here:
“The teardown was carried out by Other World Computing. It found that the Mac Pro is socketed, which usually means the processor can be removed and upgraded. Which would mean you wouldn’t have to buy a whole new system if you wanted to beef up your desktop. Though the Mac Pro should be beefy enough for most needs.
According to MacRumors: “The Intel Xeon E5 processor found in the Mac Pro is indeed removable, allowing for future upgrades.”
Apple’s Mac Pro went on sale just before Christmas, and promptly sold out. If you want one, you’ll have to wait until February for it to be delivered. It’s the most powerful Mac ever made. The cheapest model — which will set you back £2,499 — boasts a 3.7GHz quad-core Intel Xeon E5 processor, 12GB of memory, and two graphics cards both with 2GB of VRAM, plus 256GB of flash storage.
Did I mention it looks like something Darth Vader would stub out his tabs in?
If you want to really go to town, and likely remortgage your house in the process, you can opt for a 2.7GHz 12-core processor, 64GB of memory, 1TB of storage, a Sharp 32-inch 4K display and a 27-inch Apple Thunderbolt monitor. That’ll set you back an eye-watering £13,000. Cue impressed whistling noise.
